A little late posting this, but we got to bring Peanut home from the hospital late Thursday! It’s been busy, busy ever since with homecare nurse visits/lab draws, and getting back into the routine of setting up and priming her TPN/Lipids tubes and getting her connected and disconnected from her IV pumps. She is currently […]

PICC Line Placed…

Posted by The Dear Wife in Saturday, March 28th 2015   under: Peanut

No one leave their comment yet

Peanut had a picc line successfully placed in her upper right arm yesterday afternoon. She was tentatively scheduled to come home today, however, she spiked a pretty high fever late last night. Since the risk for infection is so high with a central line, they immediately started intravenous antibiotics, ran labs, and are running blood […]

Peanut Update

Posted by The Dear Wife in Friday, March 27th 2015   under: Peanut

Peanut continues to struggle nutritionally, so until her intestines get back on track, she will go home on TPN (which is what she came home from the hospital on as an infant). She is still able to eat, but she’s just can’t absorb the nutrition. She is preparing to have a picc line placed today […]

Good Morning…

Good Morning…beautiful sunrise in Iowa City! Thanks to Daddy’s cousin, Julie, for the stunning daffodils for Peanut’s room. We’re learning that slow and steady wins the race for Peanut’s recovery from this illness. We’ll be here for at least a few more days.

Night #3 away from home. BUT Peanut was just gifted these rockin’ crocheted Elsa & Anna hats! She was really happy to show them to Daddy & Lulu over FaceTime a little while ago.

Get Rid of Dandelions…The All-Natural Way

A tell-tale sign that spring has arrived….DANDELIONS! Here’s our solution… Just give them a bucket and let ’em go….hours of entertainment! If all else fails…mow them off – just not in front of the kids. We had a minor meltdown when “daddy cut off the rest of my yellow flowers!”

Double-Digits

Our one and only little boy…is now officially in the double-digits. We celebrated Potato Boy’s 10th, along with my Grandma’s birthday this past weekend. Potato Boy is growing up right before our eyes…no longer a little boy (by his standards…not by mom’s) he is a wonderful brother to his three sisters…he’s becoming quite the cook…and […]

Never Grow Up…

Posted by The Dear Wife in Saturday, November 16th 2013   under: Family

We knew this day would come…I just didn’t believe it would get here so fast. 13 years have passed at the speed of light! In my mind, our now 13 year-old daughter should still be 7. I can’t help but feel a wee bit sad about this, but all of that is overshadowed by the […]

After receiving a tip from a family friend, my wife and I ventured down a dusty road for the first time together in search of a house that was for sale by owner. The potential was there: wood floors buried beneath dated carpet, solid wood pocket doors surrounded by 100 year old trim, and a faded screen door leading to a covered porch complete with a white wooden swing. So, in July of 2011 my wife and I became only the third family to own this 100+ year old two-story farm house and surrounding acreage on a quiet dusty road in rural Iowa. What you’ll find on these pages is the story of what comes next.
